Yippo Privacy Policy
Last updated: 7 November 2026
Yippo is a family chore app. Parents create chores for their children, children check them off, and parents approve them. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how to delete it.
The short version: we collect only what the app needs to work. We show no ads, do no tracking, use no analytics tools, and never sell or share personal data for marketing. A parent can delete the whole family's data at any time from inside the app.
Who uses Yippo
- Parents create an account with an email address and password, or with Sign in with Apple (then we receive the name and email Apple shares, which can be a private Apple relay address). A parent can invite up to three more grown-ups (for example a second parent or a grandparent) with a one-time code; each creates their own account and can see and manage the family's kids, chores, photos and voice notes.
- A parent can also hand their own phone to a child ("kid mode"). The phone then shows only that child's chores until the parent enters their 4-digit PIN.
- Children never create an account and never give an email address or phone number. A parent creates the child's profile and connects the child's device with a one-time code or QR code. Children can only use Yippo once a parent has set them up.
What we collect
From parents
- Email address and password (the password is stored only in hashed form), or, with Sign in with Apple, the name and email address Apple shares with us.
- The parent's display name.
- A 4-digit parent PIN for leaving kid mode, stored only in scrambled (hashed) form.
- Optional praise for a child: a sticker and/or a short voice note (up to 20 seconds) recorded by the parent. The microphone is used only while a parent holds the record button.
About children (entered by the parent, or by the child in the app)
- First name, age and a chosen animal "buddy".
- An optional selfie, if the child or parent adds one. Parents can remove it at any time.
- Chores, completion history, points, levels, rewards requested and daily challenge answers.
- Photos of finished chores, but only when the parent turns on "photo proof" for that chore.
From devices
- A push notification token, so a child's device can be told when a chore is approved or needs doing again, or when a parent sends praise, and so parents can be told when a child finishes a chore or asks for a reward.
- An anonymous sign-in identifier for each child's device.
We also count anonymous totals from the app's own database (for example how many families finished a chore today) to understand whether Yippo is working. These counts contain no names and are not shared with anyone.
We do not collect location, contacts, advertising identifiers or the child's photo library. The camera is used only when someone chooses to take a photo.
Who can see the data
- Photos, selfies, voice notes and activity are visible only to the grown-ups and children in the same family. Each child sees only their own chores and praise, not their siblings'.
- Yippo has no public profiles, chat or social features.
Services we use to run Yippo
Supabase stores the app's data and photos on servers in Frankfurt, Germany (EU).
Google Cloud Text-to-Speech turns chore titles and descriptions into the natural voice that reads chores aloud. Only the chore text is sent: no names, photos or account details. The resulting audio is stored on our servers.
Expo push service and Apple Push Notification service deliver notifications to parents' and children's devices. They receive the device's push token and the notification text, for example a child's first name and the chore title, or a note the parent wrote.
Resend sends account emails, such as password reset codes, from hello@getyippo.com. It receives the parent's email address and the email's content.
These providers process data only to provide their service to us.
How long we keep data
We keep a family's data while their account exists. When a parent deletes the account (the Delete account button on the parent home screen), we permanently delete the family's chores, history, photos, selfies, voice notes and every child login, plus the owner's own login. Other grown-ups who were invited lose access to the family; their own logins stay until they delete them. An invited grown-up who deletes their account removes only their own login. Voice clips made from that family's custom chores are deleted as well.
A parent can also remove a child's selfie at any time, and can delete individual chores and rewards.
Children's privacy
Yippo is designed for families with children aged about 5–12. Children use Yippo under a parent's account, set up and controlled by the parent. We collect only what the app needs to work, and parents can review the data in the app and delete it at any time. We follow the principles of the US Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and Egypt's Personal Data Protection Law (Law No. 151 of 2020).
Your rights
A parent can view, correct or delete their family's data in the app, or email us and we will do it for them. To ask anything about this policy, write to amr@getyippo.com.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date above and, for important changes, tell parents in the app.
